DUTIES:
The selectee for this position serves as the technical and administrative supervisor over Environmental Management, Grounds Maintenance and Transportation Unit for a 48.8 acre campus. The incumbent serves as the primary technical expert and is responsible for the operations, repair and maintenance of all automobiles, trucks, busses and special purpose vehicles for the Batavia Medical Center. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for the execution of all housekeeping work for the campus –style facility. In this role, the selectee plans the distribution of work, assures materials, parts and equipment are ordered and delivered in time to accomplish the required work, assigns personnel, and provides required in-service training for employees under their direction. Responsible for care and maintenance of all Medical Center grounds by supervising the proper maintenance of lawns, trees, and shrubs, roads, parking lots, walkways, exterior stairs and Medical Center entrances. Also is responsible for the utilization and maintenance of all automobiles, trucks, buses and special purpose vehicles and equipment owned by, or leased to the Medical Center. Responsible for the proficient operation of such complex equipment as pay loaders, snowplows, and front-end loaders. Also responsible for ordering and stocking repair parts, supplies, materials and equipment and participates in preliminary planning of budgets for various control points. Works in conjunction with Travel for the transportation of patients. Runs monthly and quarterly reports in relation to Fleet Management. Environmental Management responsibility includes supervisory oversight over environmental sanitation, waste management, setups and movement for furniture/furnishings.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Your background must demonstrate experience in motor vehicles and have a valid driver's license.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C ( www.opm.gov/qualifications/x-118c ).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: The position requires performance of work which involves light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Also performs work which involves moderate physical effort in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds), and the occasional handling of heavier objects while loading cargo, with the assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment. Greater physical effort is needed to maneuver the longer and heavier vehicles, especially when backing these vehicles.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is mostly outside and operates vehicles in all kinds of traffic and weather. Incumbent is exposed to dirt, fumes, and the danger of serious accidents. They drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
